Our buying guides start with the call, not a wall of specifications. Who is it for? When is it unnecessary? What is the tradeoff? Read the short answer, or stay for the reasoning. Either way, you should leave with less homework.

No borrowed expertise.

Research is not the same as hands-on testing. We will not call something tested just because we read about it, and we will not invent a personal story to make a recommendation sound warmer. When qualified review or contributor experience informs a piece, it should be identified.
